About Us
Dekken North Boerboels is a family-run breeding program located outside Wellesley, Ontario operated by Marcus and Julie Wagler, along with their son Caleb. We have admired and enjoyed the Boerboel breed for many years, but did not have a large enough home and property until moving to our 100-acre mixed, hobby-style farm in September, 2023. It is very picturesque bordered by the Nith River to the North and a creek to the West.
We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue the legacy of world-class breeding begun by Dekken Boerboels in Pennsylvania 16 years ago. We are thankful for Todd and Taryn’s continued guidance and relationship as they have passed us the torch and continue assisting our breeding program.
Our dogs are raised in a family environment around children as family pets. We select carefully for temperament and do not breed for aggression.

Marcus recently transitioned out of ownership in Claynook Farms where they are passionate about improving the Holstein breed through genetic selection. It was a dairy herd of over 175 Holstein milking cows. To date, they have earned 2 Master Breeder Shields for industry-leading genetics. He is now excited to put his knowledge and experience into the Boerboel breed.
Julie earned her Kinesiology degree and worked for over 10 years in the physiotherapy field but “retired” as they started welcoming foster children into their home. She has had a love and passion for working with dogs her whole life and has been waiting for the moment they moved to the farm and could get a “new puppy”! It is a privilege to be able to work with such an intelligent and loyal breed.
We are also currently raising calves and hope to have them roaming about our pasture this summer.
